Thank you for your interest in the Portage Bay Café and Catering. We hope the information below is helpful in planning your event.

• The Portage Bay Café provides full service catering throughout the Seattle area, specializing in the University District. We provide all catering services for the University Inn and are a Preferred Caterer at the Watertown Hotel. We are available to cater both your business meetings and social functions.
• The menus shown here are only a starting place! We are happy to work with you to create the perfect menu for your event.
• Our café is a fantastic alternative for great parties. We've held rehearsal dinners, surprise birthday parties, Christmas parties, dinners and receptions for several departments of the University of Washington, and many other events. We know your guests will enjoy the time they spend at the Portage Bay Café.
• In the winter, the café can accommodate up to 60 people for a standing reception and up to 50 for a seated dinner. In the spring, summer and fall, our patio is available and our seating capacity increases. Standing receptions can accommodate up to 120, and sit-down dinners can accommodate 90. For events in which the patio is required for seating, we suggest renting a tent to guard against our frequently quirky weather. We can make arrangements for rentals for you.
• Unlike other venues, we rarely charge a "facility fee" for using the café. We require a minimum charge of $750, Monday through Thursday, and $1000, Friday through Sunday, to be met by your food and beverage purchases, prior to tax and gratuity. A deposit of 50% is required to hold your desired date, and payment in full is due the day of the event.
• Sorry, but we do not allow guests to bring outside beer, wine or other alcoholic beverages to be served in the café. Also, because we share our space with a hotel, we cannot allow amplified live music.
• Flowers? Linens? No problem. We can accommodate your decorations or provide them ourselves. Just no glitter or confetti, please.
• All pricing is subject to tax and gratuity and based on events held on-site or at the University Inn. For off-premise catering, additional delivery and labor charges may apply.
